14 Jul
Summary
- Rhyne Howard hyperextended her left knee on Friday
- Howard will miss at least the next 6 games in July
- Dream coach says "more than one person" will have to step up in Howard's absence

Last Friday, Atlanta Dream star Rhyne Howard hyperextended her left knee during a road game against the Indiana Fever. The 25-year-old All-Star will be sidelined for the remainder of July, the Dream announced on Monday.
Howard did not play in Atlanta's road loss to the New York Liberty on Sunday and is expected to miss at least the next six games to end the month. Dream coach Karl Smesko acknowledged the team will miss Howard, who is averaging 16.5 points, 4.5 assists and 5.0 rebounds this season. "It's going to have to be more than one person (who steps up with her out)," Smesko said.
Despite Howard's injury, the Dream currently sit in fifth place in the WNBA standings with a 12-9 record, just three wins shy of tying their total from last season. The team is hopeful Howard will make a full recovery, though no specific timeline for her return has been provided.
