Williams F1 upgrades won't secure consistent points in 2026
18 Sep
Summary
- Williams F1 anticipates a difficult 2026 season continuing.
- Winter development errors will impact the team throughout the year.
- New upgrades will not be enough for consistent points finishes.

Williams Formula 1 team principal James Vowles has revealed that the team's planned 2026 upgrades will not enable them to consistently compete for points. Vowles acknowledged that mistakes made during the car's early development stages will continue to hinder the Grove outfit for the remainder of the current season. He anticipates that significant updates arriving at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix will only bring small improvements.
Vowles bluntly stated that these upgrades "won't be enough to put us to even the bare minimum of where I'd like to be, which is scoring points for a weekend." He expects the team to move forward on the grid in 2027, characterizing the path ahead as a "tough old slog." Williams currently sits ninth in the constructors' standings, ahead of only Aston Martin and Cadillac.
