Team Spirit Over Records: Mulder's Declaration

Wiaan Mulder's 2025 season was marked by a significant cricketing decision when, as interim Test captain for the Proteas, he declared his innings at 367 not out. This choice placed him just 33 runs shy of Brian Lara's historic 400 Test-run record, sparking considerable discussion. Despite differing opinions, Mulder's action underscored his established reputation as a dedicated team player.

Now, as a new recruit for the Joburg Super Kings (JSK), Mulder is focused on infusing this team-first mentality into the squad. His objective is to cultivate a strong dressing-room culture that will propel the Super Kings toward their maiden Betway SA20 final in 2026. He expressed confidence in the team's clear objectives and their ability to seize crucial moments in matches.

Mulder's return to the Wanderers, a ground holding sentimental value from his early professional days, further fuels his commitment. He views the stadium as his favorite in South Africa, appreciating its electric atmosphere and rich cricketing history. This homecoming, coupled with his desire to impact the game with middle-order batting and bowling, positions him as a key asset for JSK in the upcoming tournament.
