The White Sox have acquired starting pitcher Luis Castillo from the Mariners in a trade that addresses Chicago's urgent need for rotation depth. The Mariners received pitcher Seranthony Domínguez, catcher Boston Smith, and outfielder Nolan Jones in the deal. This move sees the White Sox taking on Castillo's contract, which includes the remainder of the current season, over $24 million for the 2027 season, and a potential $25 million for 2028.

While Castillo is known for his durability, ranking third in innings pitched since 2018, his recent performance has been a concern, with a 5.06 ERA and seven home runs allowed in his last 17 innings. From the Mariners' perspective, this trade represents a salary dump of a struggling starter.
