The Chicago White Sox announced Tuesday that left-handed pitcher Noah Schultz has been placed on the 15-day injured list. Schultz is experiencing patellar tendinitis in his right knee, an issue he noted has been bothering him for approximately one week.
To fill Schultz's spot on the roster, the White Sox recalled prospect David Sandlin from Triple-A Charlotte. Sandlin, a right-handed pitcher, was originally slated to make his Major League debut on Wednesday night in a game against the Minnesota Twins.
Sandlin had been performing well for Charlotte, posting a 0.75 ERA and holding opponents to a .200 batting average in four starts. This season marks Schultz's first eight major league starts since his promotion on April 14, where he holds a 5.82 ERA with a 2-4 record.
