White Sox Catcher Teel Out 4-6 Weeks With Hamstring Injury
12 Mar
Summary
- Kyle Teel sustained a right hamstring strain playing for Italy.
- He is expected to miss between four to six weeks of play.
- Edgar Quero will handle most catching duties in Teel's absence.

Kyle Teel, the Chicago White Sox catcher, is facing a significant layoff due to a right hamstring strain. The injury occurred on Tuesday night while Teel was representing Italy in an upset victory over the U.S. during the World Baseball Classic. He appeared to tweak his hamstring while rounding first base after hitting a double.
General Manager Chris Getz confirmed on Wednesday that Teel is projected to be out of action for approximately four to six weeks. The 24-year-old catcher was acquired from Boston in the offseason and played in 78 games for the White Sox last season. Edgar Quero, who also played for the team last year, is expected to step in and handle the majority of the catching duties while Teel recovers.
