West Indies Seek to Level T20 Series Against New Zealand

The West Indies cricket team is set to face off against New Zealand in the fifth and final T20 match of their ongoing series on November 12, 2025. The Windies currently trail the series 2-1 after the fourth T20 was rained out on November 9.

West Indies white-ball captain Shai Hope has acknowledged that his team's top-order batsmen must perform better to set competitive totals against the Kiwis. So far in the series, the Windies' lower-order players like Rovman Powell, Matthew Forde, Romario Shepherd, and Shamar Springer have been the standouts, bailing out the team on multiple occasions.

Despite the 2-1 deficit, Hope remains optimistic about his side's chances in the final match. He believes that if the top order can get going and not allow the New Zealand bowlers to break through early, the Windies' powerful batting lineup can be "dangerous for any team, not just New Zealand."

The series has been a good test for the West Indies, as the conditions in New Zealand contrast greatly with their previous tour to Bangladesh. While winning the final T20 is the immediate goal, Hope says it's important for his team to continue playing good cricket and gain valuable experience ahead of the T20 World Cup next year, where they could potentially face the Kiwis again.
