Summary

- Six Virginia players entered the transfer portal post-season.
- Agugua-Hamilton was fired following an internal investigation.
Virginia's women's basketball program has a new head coach, Aaron Roussell, following a period of significant upheaval. Roussell, previously the head coach at Richmond for seven years, brings a successful track record, including three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances and the program's first-ever tournament win in 2025.
The Cavaliers program is currently navigating instability after a surprising run to the Sweet Sixteen in the recent NCAA tournament. This success was followed by the abrupt firing of head coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton, reportedly due to an internal investigation into allegations of staff mistreatment.
Compounding the coaching change, six Virginia players have entered the transfer portal. This includes Kymora Johnson, who was the team's leading scorer during the past season, indicating a substantial rebuild will be necessary for the incoming coach.
