Virginia QB Chandler Morris Injured in Crucial Game Against Wake Forest

On November 5, 2022, Virginia quarterback Chandler Morris was injured during the second quarter of the Cavaliers' game against Wake Forest. At the time, Virginia was leading 3-0 and facing a second-and-7 situation when Morris ran for 6 yards and went into a slide at the Cavaliers' 14-yard line. He was then sandwiched by a pair of Wake Forest defenders, resulting in a personal foul penalty but no targeting call.

Morris remained down on the field for a few minutes before gingerly walking to the sideline and then heading to the locker room. The injury did not appear to be related to the left shoulder injury that Morris has been dealing with for much of the season.

The loss of Morris was a significant blow for the 12th-ranked Cavaliers, who had gotten off to their best start in 35 years under his leadership.
