Murray Out, Wentz Starts for Vikings vs. Bears
19 Sep
Summary
- Kyler Murray ruled out with a concussion for Week 2.
- Carson Wentz played 83% of snaps in Week 1 for Vikings.
- Bears cleared all eight injured players for Week 2.

The Minnesota Vikings have officially ruled out starting quarterback Kyler Murray for their Week 2 game against the Chicago Bears due to a concussion. Murray sustained the injury in the first quarter of Week 1 and, despite practicing, will not be available for Sunday's contest. Veteran Carson Wentz will start for the Vikings, taking over for Murray after playing the majority of snaps in their previous game.
Wentz's extensive playing time in Week 1, where he completed 12 of 19 passes for 133 yards and three touchdowns, means the Bears defense has considerable game tape to analyze. This familiarity with Wentz's tendencies could provide Chicago with a strategic advantage. The Vikings' coach, Kevin O'Connell, has had a full week to prepare a game plan tailored for Wentz.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Bears enter Week 2 with a clean bill of health, as all eight of their injured or sick players have been cleared. This includes All-Pro right tackle Darnell Wright and running backs D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai. The Bears will also see left tackle Ozzy Trapilo and safety Xavier Woods make their season debuts. The Vikings will be without wide receiver Jauan Jennings for personal reasons.
