Victoria Pendleton, a celebrated Olympic track cyclist, has authored a new book titled 'The Fear Opportunity.' This work shares insights from experts aimed at enhancing confidence and reducing anxiety by fundamentally altering one's perception of fear. Pendleton expressed surprise at the experts' willingness to contribute, which she feels lends the book significant authority.
Following her successful career, which included multiple medals at the London 2012 Summer Olympics and a CBE, Pendleton transitioned to new pursuits. She retrained as a jockey, achieving a notable fifth place in the Foxhunter Chase at Cheltenham Festival in 2016, despite lacking prior experience in the sport.
In 2018, after a decade-long marriage, Pendleton experienced severe depression, including suicidal ideation, stemming from an unsuccessful attempt to scale Mount Everest. She found a path to recovery through activities like surfing and exercise, and is now a patron of The Wave Project, which utilizes surf therapy to improve mental well-being.
Her journey also includes a relationship with Louis Tinsley, whom she met during the filming of 'Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins' in 2019. Tragically, Pendleton announced the death of her twin brother, Alex, in 2023, who passed away from cancer at the age of 42.
