Summary
- Former Pro Bowl receiver DJ Chark, 29, signs with the Atlanta Falcons
- Chark contemplated retirement this offseason due to family challenges
- Chark had a 1,000-yard season in 2019 but struggled with injuries in recent years

In a surprising move, former Pro Bowl receiver DJ Chark has signed with the Atlanta Falcons, ending his retirement contemplation. The 29-year-old Chark, who was named to the Pro Bowl in 2019 after a 1,000-yard receiving season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, has faced a series of challenges in recent years.
Chark acknowledged that retirement was an option this offseason, citing the difficulties of potentially uprooting his family for a fifth consecutive year. However, the Falcons have emerged as an acceptable destination for the Louisiana native, who will now join an offense that may be on the verge of becoming one of the NFL's best.
Despite his past success, Chark has struggled with injuries in recent seasons. He was limited to just four games in 2021 and dealt with a hip injury last year that delayed his season debut until November. Nevertheless, the Falcons are hopeful that Chark can provide valuable depth and a red-zone threat to their already impressive group of skill players, which includes quarterback Michael Penix Jr., running back Bijan Robinson, tight end Kyle Pitts, and wide receiver Drake London.
