Summary
- Dolphins waived CB Mike Hilton as part of roster cuts
- Hilton set to work out with Dolphins' Week 1 opponent, the Colts
- Colts have mutual interest in signing Hilton

In a move to finalize their 53-man roster, the Miami Dolphins have parted ways with veteran cornerback Mike Hilton. However, Hilton's time on the free agent market may be short-lived, as he is set to work out with the Indianapolis Colts, the Dolphins' Week 1 opponent.
According to reports, there is mutual interest between Hilton and the Colts in reaching a deal. If signed, Hilton would join another former Dolphins cornerback, Xavien Howard, who is currently listed as a starter on the Colts' depth chart. Howard, a four-time Pro Bowler, joined the Colts just last week after sitting out the entire 2024 NFL season.
Hilton, 31, was expected to make the Dolphins' roster when he signed with the team in July. However, the former Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals corner failed to make a significant impact in Miami's inexperienced secondary, and fifth-round rookie Jason Marshall Jr. emerged as a more enticing option in the slot.

The Colts' secondary is already crowded, with six cornerbacks on their initial 53-man roster, including 2021 Pro Bowler Kenny Moore II and high-priced free agent acquisition Charvarius Ward. How Hilton would fit into this group remains to be seen, but the Colts' interest suggests they believe he can still contribute at the NFL level.
