Veteran Batter Karun Nair Dropped from Indian Test Squad Despite Domestic Success
8 Oct
Summary
- Karun Nair, 31, switched to Vidarbha last season, helping them win Ranji Trophy
- Nair earned a Test comeback after 8 years but failed to impress in England
- Karnataka's U-19 team to be led by Anvay Dravid, son of India coach Rahul Dravid

In a surprising move, the Indian cricket selectors have decided to drop veteran batter Karun Nair from the national Test squad. Nair, who is 31 years old, had made a comeback to the Indian team after eight long years, thanks to his impressive domestic performances.
Last season, Nair had switched to Vidarbha, where he played a key role in helping the team lift the prestigious Ranji Trophy. His strong form at the domestic level had earned him another chance in the Indian Test side, as they toured England for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy earlier this year.
However, Nair's performances in the four Tests he played in England were not up to the mark, with just one half-century to show for his efforts. Agarkar, the selector, felt that this was not enough to warrant another opportunity for Nair in the Indian team.
