VCU has extended the contract of men's basketball coach Phil Martelli Jr. through the 2031-32 season. His tenure included a significant NCAA Tournament victory over North Carolina, marking the program's first tournament win in a decade. This win was part of an outstanding late-season run, with the team winning 17 of their last 18 games. The 28 victories also matched the second-highest win total in school history.
