Summary

- Bottas aims to reach Singapore for mandatory media commitments.
Cadillac Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas has embarked on a remarkable cycling journey, covering 350 kilometers from Malaysia's Sepang International Circuit to Singapore. This decision comes after his premature exit from the recent Bahrain Grand Prix, where an attempt to start on slick tires in damp conditions did not pay off, leading to a spin and retirement.
Instead of flying with the rest of the Formula 1 paddock, Bottas began his multi-day cycling trip on Sunday evening. The Finnish driver aims to complete the distance in stages, ensuring his arrival in Singapore in time for mandatory media appearances scheduled for Thursday at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Bottas acknowledged his strategic miscalculation during the Sepang race, stating, "We thought the track would dry quicker, and we thought it was worth trying something, but in the end it didn't work out." He accepted responsibility for the incident that brought out the safety car, apologizing to his team for the early retirement.
