- The Utes remain undefeated at 8-0 this season.
Utah secured a hard-fought 21-13 comeback victory against Houston, erasing a significant second-half deficit. The Utes, previously held scoreless for 40 minutes, found their offensive rhythm thanks to the dynamic play of quarterback Devon Dampier and tailback Wayshawn Parker. This crucial win improved their season record to 8-0.
Dampier ignited the comeback, scoring on a 22-yard run to give Utah a 14-13 lead early in the fourth quarter. Parker then sealed the victory with a touchdown run after an earlier acrobatic catch was negated by penalty. The victory also positioned Utah for a potential significant rise in national rankings, especially after other top teams lost on the same day.
The Cougars' defense had stifled the Utes in the first half, contributing to a 10-0 lead midway through the third quarter. Despite being held scoreless for the first time in 25 games at their home stadium, Utah's resilience and offensive adjustments proved decisive in extending their perfect start.
