USWNT Aims to Reclaim No. 1 Spot from Spain
10 Oct
Summary
- USWNT seeks to regain FIFA's top ranking against Spain.
- This is the first match between top two ranked teams since 2024.
- The match will be broadcast live on TBS and Telemundo.
The U.S. Women's National Team is preparing to face off against the current No. 1 ranked team, Spain, in Washington D.C. This highly anticipated international friendly, scheduled for Saturday, October 10, is a critical opportunity for the USWNT to reclaim its position at the pinnacle of FIFA rankings.
Having held the top spot for much of the past five years, the USWNT saw their ranking dip following challenges during the 2023 Women's World Cup. Spain, who won that tournament, ascended to No. 1 and has maintained this position since August 2025, despite a brief drop to third in August 2024.
This match signifies the first meeting between the world's top two-ranked women's national teams since Spain's appearance in the UEFA Nations League final two years ago. Fans in the U.S. can watch the action live on TBS or stream it via DIRECTV. A Spanish-language broadcast is available on Telemundo, which can be streamed on Peacock or Fubo.
