In the lead-up to the 2026 World Cup, the U.S. men's national soccer team will take on Ecuador and Australia in a series of friendly matches scheduled for October. The Americans will first face off against the South American side on October 10th at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas, before traveling to Commerce City, Colorado to take on the Socceroos on October 14th at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
Both Ecuador and Australia are currently ranked in the top 25 of FIFA's world rankings, making them formidable opponents as the USMNT continues its preparations for the upcoming World Cup. Ecuador has already qualified for the 2026 tournament, joining Argentina and Brazil as the three CONMEBOL teams to have secured their spots. Australia has also booked its place in the World Cup through the Asian Football Confederation.
The U.S. team will be returning to Austin, where they have recorded six consecutive wins, including a friendly victory over Panama in October 2024 under new manager Mauricio Pochettino. The match in Commerce City will mark the USMNT's first visit to the venue since a World Cup qualifier against Trinidad & Tobago in 2017.
