BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla emphasized the league's significant impact, pointing out that 18 players from Uttar Pradesh participated in the recent Indian Premier League season, with many securing their IPL berths after excelling in the UPT20 League.
The league is also a key avenue for identifying emerging fast bowlers through the UPCA Speed Hunt initiative. This program has successfully identified 38 bowlers who exceed 134 kmph, providing them with a clear route into the UPT20 League and potentially the IPL. Shukla suggested that franchises should consider including at least one Speed Hunt player among their uncapped signings to further develop pace bowling talent. The tournament's opening phase will be held in Lucknow, with the finals taking place in Kanpur.
