Uttar Pradesh began their Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025 journey with a decisive 84-run triumph against Hyderabad at Rajkot. The team's spin bowlers were instrumental in securing the win, effectively stifling Hyderabad's batting lineup in the middle overs. This victory sets a strong tone for UP's campaign in the domestic tournament.
Earlier in the match, Uttar Pradesh's batting unit posted a robust total of 324 for five in their allotted 50 overs. Key contributions came from the openers and the middle-order batsmen, who built a solid foundation. The bowlers then capitalized on this strong score, making it difficult for Hyderabad to chase.
Hyderabad's chase saw an initial threat from Tanmay Agarwal and Rahul Singh Gahlaut, but the introduction of spin bowlers shifted the momentum decisively. Despite a collective effort from UP's top order and a strong second-wicket partnership, Hyderabad was ultimately bowled out for 240, falling short by a significant margin.
