27 Oct
Summary
- Undrafted in 2021, now NBA G League MVP
- Won NBA Slam Dunk Contest 3 years in a row
- First player to achieve this feat in NBA history

As of October 28th, 2025, 26-year-old guard Mac McClung has solidified his place in NBA history by winning the Slam Dunk Contest for the third year in a row. This unprecedented achievement makes McClung the first player to ever win the prestigious event three times consecutively.
McClung's journey to the top has been nothing short of remarkable. After going undrafted in 2021 out of Texas Tech, he has appeared in a total of six NBA games for the Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, Chicago Bulls, and Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 5.5 points, 2.2 assists, and 2.3 rebounds per game while shooting 43% from the field.
However, it is McClung's dominance in the NBA G League that has truly propelled him to stardom. In 2024, he was named the G League MVP while playing for the Osceola Magic, and has been selected to the All-NBA G League First Team in each of the last two seasons. McClung's incredible dunking ability, which first gained him fame in his high school years, has been on full display in the NBA's annual Slam Dunk Contest.
In 2023, while on a two-way contract with the 76ers, McClung was invited to participate in the event and recorded perfect 50s on all of his dunks, except for one. He went on to defeat Trey Murphy III in the final. McClung then returned in 2024 and repeated as the dunk champion, and now, in 2025, he has become the first player in NBA history to win the dunk contest three years in a row, surpassing the previous record held by Nate Robinson.
