25 Oct
Summary
- Utah remains the Big 12's lone undefeated team.
- Devon Dampier had 150 rushing yards against Houston.
- The Utes face a challenging four-game stretch next.
Morgan Scalley's tenure as head coach of Utah football is off to a remarkable start, with the Utes maintaining their undefeated status and leading the Big 12. Their recent victory against Houston, secured by 21 second-half points, extended their winning streak to thirteen games, with the last eight under Scalley's leadership.
Despite being held scoreless for the entire first half by Houston and throwing two interceptions, quarterback Devon Dampier ignited Utah's offense. He amassed 150 rushing yards on 15 carries, crucially forcing a fumble that sealed the win. Dampier expressed the team's motivation stemming from being underestimated.
The Utes face a demanding upcoming schedule that includes road games against Cincinnati and Arizona, as well as a rivalry match against BYU. This challenging stretch will test their undefeated run and their aspirations for a College Football Playoff berth.
