UNC Players Out: Speeding History Revealed

Two UNC Chapel Hill football players are listed as "Out" for this weekend's game at Clemson University following traffic incidents. C.J. Sadler was cited for speeding earlier this week. During that stop, teammate Keeyun Chapman was charged with gun and marijuana possession. Chapman has been suspended indefinitely from the team.

An internal investigation into UNC's football program culture was announced, though Sadler was not mentioned. Further investigation by WRAL revealed that two other players, freshmen Vodney Cleveland and Carnell Warren, also have histories of speeding. Cleveland has two speeding tickets this year, including one for 66 in a 45. Warren has three speeding tickets since February, one involving a reckless driving charge for 71 in a 35, which was later dismissed.

UNC declined to answer specific questions regarding the players' availability, citing conference rules for availability reports. While Sadler played in the first two out-of-conference games, statistics for Cleveland and Warren are unclear. A professor noted the need for greater accountability for athletes' actions both on and off the field.
