Umpire Dies After Brutal Bee Attack During Cricket Match

A senior umpire, Manik Gupta, tragically died on Wednesday after being attacked by a swarm of bees during a KDMA league match at Sapru ground in Shuklaganj Unnao. Gupta, 65, was officiating the match between YMCC and Paramount when the bees swarmed the field.
Several players and umpires present were severely injured by the stings. Gupta and the other umpire, Jagdish Sharma, were reportedly surrounded by the swarm for approximately 10 minutes. Despite being rushed to several hospitals, including Lala Lajpat Rai hospital and Laxmipat Singhania Institute of Cardiology, doctors declared him deceased.
Gupta, a resident of Pheelkhana and a member of the KCA's umpiring panel for three decades, was remembered by KCA chairman Sanjay Kapoor as a dedicated figure. The association pledged full support to his bereaved family. His funeral was scheduled for Thursday.
