UFL Boosts Scoring With 60-Yard Field Goal Bonus
26 Feb
Summary
- UFL introduces four points for field goals of 60+ yards.
- Punting inside the 50-yard line is now restricted.
- The 'tush push' play is banned in the upcoming season.

The United Football League is implementing significant rule changes for its 2026 season, aiming to enhance the excitement and flow of the game. A key revision is the introduction of a four-point bonus for any field goal successfully kicked from 60 yards or beyond, a move designed to reward spectacular long-distance kicks.
Further rule adjustments include restrictions on punting, prohibiting teams from punting anywhere inside the 50-yard line, with an exception made for the final two minutes of each half. The 'tush push' short-yardage play, which has seen debate in other leagues, has also been banned.
Kickoffs will now commence from the 30-yard line starting in 2026. These changes, discussed by league officials, are intended to promote more scoring, big plays, and strategic diversity. UFL players have already reported to training camp, with the 2026 season scheduled to begin on March 27.
