The UConn men's basketball program will retire Emeka Okafor's No. 50 jersey. This ceremony will take place at halftime of the Feb. 18 game against Creighton. Okafor's number will hang alongside Ray Allen's and Richard Hamilton's in the Gampel Pavilion rafters.
Okafor's legacy at UConn is immense. He led the Huskies to their second national championship in 2004, earning the title of National Player of the Year. He was also recognized as the 2004 Final Four Most Outstanding Player.
His defensive prowess was exceptional, setting program records for blocked shots and earning multiple National Defensive Player of the Year awards. Okafor's contributions extended beyond individual accolades, as he was instrumental in securing five Big East titles during his tenure.
