University of Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore was terminated for cause after an investigation revealed credible evidence of an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. The staff member reportedly presented text messages, emails, and other documents to university officials detailing the relationship prior to Moore's dismissal.
Following his firing on Wednesday, December 10, Moore allegedly confronted the staff member at her residence, reportedly armed with a knife and making threats. This led to his subsequent protective custody and booking at the Washtenaw County Jail, where his wife indicated he was suicidal.
The Pittsfield Township Police Department has confirmed an ongoing investigation into Moore's conduct, with no official charges yet filed. The university stated a zero-tolerance policy for such behavior, while assistant coach Biff Poggi has been named interim head coach.
