The Arizona Fall League recently hosted a special homecoming event in Tucson, Arizona, where local talents Mason White and Cade McGee played in their hometown. White, a prospect for the Red Sox, and McGee, a prospect for the Cardinals, both grew up in Tucson and attended Salpointe Catholic High School. They had known each other for approximately 15 years, having played together since high school after knowing each other since elementary school.
Both players developed significantly during their college careers. McGee played at Gonzaga and Texas Tech before being drafted by the Cardinals, while White played at the University of Arizona before being selected by the Red Sox. Despite White attempting to recruit McGee to the University of Arizona in the previous year, their paths eventually led them to share the field in their hometown, a moment they found incredibly cool and somewhat unexpected.
In addition to White and McGee, other players experienced similar homecomings. Outfielder Brendan Summerhill, a Rays prospect, also had a notable performance. Demetrio Crisantes, a top prospect for the Diamondbacks, was celebrated by a contingent from his hometown of Nogales, Arizona.
