Tua Tagovailoa Faces Ex-Team in Preseason Showdown

Tua Tagovailoa will start for the Atlanta Falcons against his former team, the Miami Dolphins, in the upcoming preseason game. This marks Tagovailoa's first opportunity to face the Dolphins since his release at the end of the 2025 season. He had previously spent his entire NFL career with Miami, starting 76 games over six seasons.

Tagovailoa's start is not an indication of his regular-season role with Atlanta, as the team aims to keep Michael Penix Jr. fresh. Tagovailoa's preseason statistics with the Falcons have been modest, with only 22 yards on three completions in one game. This matchup serves as a crucial final chance for him to demonstrate his potential for the starting quarterback position in Atlanta.
