The Australian NBL formally granted Devers a release on July 21, making his move to UW official. He is one of two international signings for coach Danny Sprinkle, alongside Brazilian forward Wini Braga.
Devers is actively helping Braga adjust to life in Seattle, drawing from his own experience as an international player. He has found a favorite food spot in Chipotle and is preparing for his family's Christmas visit, anticipating a new experience with snow, unlike the Australian summer he's accustomed to.
While Devers did not play in the Huskies' exhibition loss on October 17, he participated fully in practice on Tuesday, indicating his potential role early in the season due to his defensive prowess. He believes his on-ball defense and speed in transition are key strengths, and he is working with the coaching staff to improve his ball-handling and offensive reads.
