24 Apr
Summary
- Trainer Rodolfo Sanchez-Salomon received a 30-day suspension.
- Fifteen syringes with needles were found in his vehicle.
- The violation occurred during a March 2026 inspection at Colonial Downs.

Mid-Atlantic trainer Rodolfo Sanchez-Salomon received a 30-day suspension and a $2,500 fine from the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA). The penalty stems from the discovery of 15 syringes, complete with hypodermic needles, in his vehicle at Colonial Downs. Investigators from the Horseracing Integrity & Welfare Unit (HIWU) found the equipment during a compliance inspection on March 13, 2026.
Under HISA's Racetrack Safety Rule 2230(e), only licensed veterinarians are permitted to possess such equipment on racetrack grounds to ensure horse safety and prevent unauthorized medication. The seized syringes were sent for lab analysis, with HIWU prepared to pursue further sanctions if Anti-Doping and Medication (ADMC) rule violations are confirmed.
Sanchez-Salomon waived his right to a hearing and will be ineligible from April 27 to May 26, 2026. This is not his first suspension; he previously served 60 days in May-July 2025 for TCO2 and medication violations. Despite these penalties, the trainer has accumulated 359 wins since beginning his career in 2017.
