Golfweek's Best 2025 ranking highlights the premier par-3 and short private golf courses in the United States. These courses, often eschewing traditional length and par, are celebrated for their innovative designs and enjoyable environments. Pine Valley's short course has earned the top position, boasting an average rating of 8.80 from course raters.
Introduced to acknowledge the rise of shorter layouts, this ranking employs a unique evaluation system. Raters score courses based on overall enjoyment of design and surroundings, rather than adhering to traditional golf course rating criteria. A minimum of 10 votes was required for a course to be considered for the list.
The compilation features a diverse array of 25 courses, with details on their architects, opening years, number of holes, lengths, and pars. Several new or returning courses, marked with an asterisk, have entered the rankings, reflecting the dynamic nature of golf course design and appreciation.
