Taylen Kinney, a standout basketball player from the Class of 2026, has recently announced his top 12 college choices. Kinney, who previously starred at Newport High School, has emerged as one of the most coveted recruits in his class.
According to reports, Kinney's list includes several elite programs, such as Xavier, Auburn, Kentucky, Louisville, Arkansas, Kansas, Purdue, Oregon, Tennessee, Miami, Indiana, and Texas. Xavier was one of the first schools to offer Kinney a scholarship back in June 2023.
Kinney led Newport High to back-to-back Ninth Region championships before leaving the school to join Overtime Elite in Georgia in 2024. He has already visited Purdue, Kentucky, and Louisville, and has additional visits scheduled to Kansas, Indiana, Oregon, Texas, and Arkansas later this year.
In April, University of Kentucky head coach Mark Pope completed an in-home visit with Kinney, further demonstrating the high-level interest in the talented point guard. As Kinney continues to navigate the recruiting process, his decision will be closely watched by basketball fans and analysts alike.
