St. Louis CITY SC, an MLS team, has unveiled a special "Tina Turner Kit," a groundbreaking collaboration with Adidas. This marks Adidas' first-ever global sports kit collaboration with a female music artist. The jersey pays tribute to Tina Turner, celebrating her St. Louis roots, where she began her artistic journey at 16.
The "Tina Turner Kit" is designed to embody her iconic stage energy, with a shimmering gold design reminiscent of her famous minidresses. Her silhouette graces the jersey tag, and her signature appears in "CITY Red." This kit will serve as the club's secondary jersey for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.
Beyond the jersey, St. Louis is hosting a series of events to honor Turner, who passed away in 2023. A highlight is "Eternal: A Tribute to Tina Turner," a concert on February 15 featuring Brittany Howard and the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. A pop-up shop at City Foundry will offer the new jersey and items from Turner's personal collection, including wardrobe pieces and Grammy Awards.
Additional tributes include a music education program for youth, developed with local arts organization COCA, funded partly by jersey sales. The celebration will culminate with Tina Turner Night at a CITY SC home match on August 22. This initiative aligns with CITY SC's broader commitment to integrating music into its identity since its 2023 inception.
