Wolves Unlock Gobert: Finding the Missing Link

Kyle Anderson identified a recurring issue for the Minnesota Timberwolves: missed opportunities to involve center Rudy Gobert near the basket. This observation has become a focus for the team as they aim for a deep playoff run.

During a recent game against the severely shorthanded Utah Jazz, the Timberwolves intentionally worked to get Gobert more involved. He responded with an efficient 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting, alongside 12 rebounds, in a decisive victory.

Despite Gobert's occasional struggles with dropped passes and missed layups, Coach Chris Finch insists on continuing to feed him the ball. Finch views these plays, even those resulting in turnovers, as part of the process to build trust and integrate Gobert more effectively into the offense.

Gobert's defensive impact is undeniable, anchoring the team's strong defensive rating. However, raising his offensive contribution beyond screening and rebounding is seen as essential for the Timberwolves to reach a new level, especially against tougher playoff opponents.
