Brady Smith, a pitching prospect recently acquired by the Detroit Tigers in the Tarik Skubal trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers, has been placed on the seven-day injured list.
The announcement was made by the West Michigan Whitecaps on Thursday, August 20. Smith left a recent start with High-A West Michigan during the second inning after experiencing discomfort in his right arm.
Smith, 21, was ranked as the Dodgers' No. 17 prospect before the trade on August 1. He is now considered the Tigers' No. 10 prospect according to MLB Pipeline. He was a third-round pick in 2023 and had Tommy John surgery shortly after turning pro.
At the time of the trade, Smith showcased impressive strikeout numbers with a rate of 13.7 batters per nine innings across Low-A Ontario and High-A Great Lakes. Scouts note his excellent changeup and a fastball that sits between 93-96 mph.
