Tigers Prospect Injured Mid-Start

Tigers prospect Brady Smith exited his High-A West Michigan start on Saturday night, August 15, 2026, due to an apparent right arm injury. Smith shook his arm after a pitch in the first inning and was removed from the game after 1.1 innings pitched. He allowed one hit, one walk, and struck out one batter.

Smith, 21, was acquired by the Tigers on August 2, 2026, as part of the trade that sent two-time Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He is ranked as the Tigers' No. 10 prospect by MLB Pipeline. He made his professional debut in 2025 after undergoing Tommy John surgery post-draft in 2023.

This injury follows another setback for a recent Tigers acquisition, as High-A left-hander Kash Mayfield, the No. 8 prospect, was recently placed on the injured list with a hamstring injury. Mayfield was acquired on August 4, 2026, in the trade that sent Casey Mize to the San Diego Padres.
