25 Mar

Summary

Pitcher Hanifee was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.
He had a 3.00 ERA in 60 innings for Detroit last year.
Struggles in spring training led to the reassignment.

The Detroit Tigers reassigned pitcher Joey Hanifee to their Triple-A affiliate, Toledo, on Tuesday. Hanifee was a notable contributor to Detroit's bullpen during the previous year, achieving a 3.00 earned run average across 60 innings pitched for the major league club. His recent performance in the Grapefruit League, however, saw him allow four earned runs in only 5.2 innings of work.

This spring training performance has led the Tigers to send Hanifee to Triple-A Toledo. The move aims to provide him with an opportunity to work on his pitching and get back on track before potentially rejoining the major league team.
