Summary
- Tigers acquired Yoniel Curet from the Phillies.
- Curet had a 1.45 ERA in Double-A last season.
- He was added to the 40-man roster and optioned to FCL.

The Detroit Tigers have enhanced their pitching depth by claiming Yoniel Curet off waivers from the Philadelphia Phillies. This move was made to create a roster spot, coinciding with Parker Meadows being moved to the 60-day injured list.
Curet, a 23-year-old right-hander, has been added to Detroit's 40-man roster and initially optioned to the Florida Complex League. The team anticipates he will soon join Triple-A Toledo to start the season. Curet was acquired by Philadelphia in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays during the past offseason.
Despite not yet debuting in MLB, Curet showcased impressive performance in Double-A last season, achieving a 1.45 ERA and a 0.911 WHIP. While his ERA rose in Triple-A, he still recorded 35 strikeouts in 31.1 innings. With a combined 62 strikeouts over 55.1 innings, he displays significant "swing and miss" potential from both starting and relief roles.
