Hao-Yu Lee, a player who has quietly performed well since June, became the unlikely hero. With two outs in the ninth, Lee hit a decisive double, scoring two runners and giving Detroit the lead. Since June 1, Lee has been hitting .320 with three home runs and nine RBIs, proving to be a valuable asset despite a .680 OPS.

Complementing Lee's heroics was a stellar performance from starting pitcher Troy Melton.
