Pannone Pitches Perfect Game in IL History

Thomas Pannone, a left-handed pitcher with one appearance for the Milwaukee Brewers this season, achieved a historic milestone on September 7th. He threw the fifth nine-inning perfect game in International League history, retiring all 27 batters he faced for the Class AAA Nashville Sounds against the Durham Bulls. Pannone's stellar performance, which included 61 strikes on 94 pitches and eight strikeouts, secured a 3-0 victory for his team.

This remarkable achievement is the first perfect game in the International League since 2011 and the third in the Nashville Sounds' history. Pannone, who has a 4-3 record and a 4.67 ERA in 21 games this season, also saw a significant offensive contribution from shortstop Eduardo Garcia, who homered and drove in runs. The game was unusual due to its scheduling on Labor Day, a day minor league teams typically do not play.

Pannone's journey includes previous appearances with the Brewers in 2023 and a stint in Korea in 2022. He also played in the Cubs and Yankees organizations and overcame a torn flexor tendon that caused him to miss the entire 2025 season.
