Nong-O Hama, the legendary Thai fighter, admits that he never imagined he would be fighting Rodtang, as they were previously in different weight classes. However, when Nong-O moved down to the flyweight division, he realized that a clash with Rodtang was inevitable. As Nong-O stated, "When I first joined ONE Championship, I was in bantamweight and he was in flyweight. So we were in a different weight class. I did not think that we would fight one day. But when I went down to flyweight, the thought did occur that one day I would have to fight him."
