Texas Volleyball Aims for 3rd Straight Win on Road
10 Oct
Summary
- Texas Longhorns volleyball team seeks their third consecutive win.
- Freshman Henley Anderson has emerged as a key attacker.
- The team may play without injured middle blocker Nya Bunton.
The No. 9 Texas Longhorns volleyball team is looking to achieve their first three-match winning streak of the season on the road against Arkansas. Coach Jerritt Elliott expressed dissatisfaction with the team's performance in a recent 3-1 victory over Alabama, emphasizing the need for better play.
Texas (7-5, 3-1) may face the challenge of playing without starting middle blocker Nya Bunton, who is dealing with a knee injury. However, the emergence of freshman outside hitter Henley Anderson, a Dripping Springs native, has been a bright spot. Anderson recorded 25 kills across two matches last weekend, hitting .427.
The Longhorns will compete against an Arkansas team (8-6, 0-3) that is looking to break its own losing streak. Arkansas's offense often centers around sophomore outside hitter Parker Duncan, who delivered 20 kills against South Carolina and has achieved double-digit kills in nine matches.
The match is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. at Barnhill Arena in Fayetteville, Ark., and will be broadcast on SEC Network+.
