Terry Johnson has departed from his position as an assistant coach at Purdue, having accepted a new role with the Evansville basketball program. He will serve as the associate head coach under David Ragland.
Johnson spent five seasons in West Lafayette, from 2021 through 2026, during which Purdue secured two Big Ten regular-season titles and two Big Ten Tournament championships. The Boilermakers also made the NCAA Tournament each year he was on staff, notably reaching the National Championship Game in 2024.
His coaching career, which began in 1997, has predominantly been in Indiana, with past tenures at IPFW, Indiana Tech, Butler, and Ohio State. This move to Evansville keeps him within the state, continuing his long association with Indiana basketball.
Meanwhile, Purdue has hired Kenneth Lowe, a former Boilermaker player and defensive standout, to fill the vacancy left by Johnson. Lowe will join fellow assistant Paul Lusk in focusing on the team's defense for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
