Tennessee Offers Scholarship to Top 2026 Recruit Gage Mayfield

Tennessee's basketball program is making a push to add top talent to its 2026 recruiting class. On Tuesday, the Volunteers offered a scholarship to 4-star small forward Gage Mayfield, a highly touted prospect from Hale County High School in Moundville, Alabama.

Mayfield, who 247Sports ranks as the No. 28 small forward and the top player in Alabama for the 2026 class, recently included Tennessee in his top 5 schools, along with Michigan, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, and Florida State. The 6-foot-7, 190-pound prospect officially visited the Vols' campus on June 23.

Tennessee's scholarship offer comes after Kennesaw State was the first school to extend an opportunity to Mayfield. Other programs like Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Maryland, and Miami have also offered the talented wing player.

With Mayfield's inclusion of Tennessee in his top 5, the Volunteers have positioned themselves as a serious contender for the highly sought-after recruit's commitment as they look to build their 2026 recruiting class.
