This strategic acquisition follows record-breaking TV viewership for Telemundo during the 2026 World Cup.

The deal includes broadcast rights for Telemundo, the Peacock streaming platform, Universo, and Telemundo's free ad-supported streaming channel. Telemundo already holds U.S. Spanish-language rights for other major soccer events and leagues, reinforcing its position in the market. The Champions League, considered the premier annual club tournament, features 36 top European clubs competing for significant prize money.

The 2026 Champions League final set new U.S. viewership records for a club soccer match in English-language broadcasts, averaging over 2 million viewers. Telemundo's Spanish-language broadcasts of the 2026 World Cup also achieved remarkable success, with certain matches becoming the most-watched in U.S. Spanish-language TV history.
