Teen Swimmer Shatters Record with 7 Gold Medals!

A 19-year-old Chinese swimmer concluded a spectacular Asian Games campaign by winning a record seventh gold medal, calling it the "perfect conclusion" to his week in Tokyo. His final triumph came in the 400m freestyle, setting a new Games record. This historic achievement surpassed the previous record of six golds held by swimmers from Japan and China.

The young athlete's extensive medal haul included individual victories in the 200m, 800m, and 1500m freestyle, as well as three relay golds. Despite his success, he remains focused on future goals, including the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and world records, while acknowledging the need to bridge the gap with global elite athletes.

China's swimming team showcased significant dominance, securing five of the seven finals on the penultimate day and topping the overall medal table with 30 golds. Other notable performances included Li Bingjie winning her fifth gold and Zhang Yufei securing her fourth. Taiwan also celebrated a historic moment with Wang Kuan-hung's victory in the 200m butterfly, marking their first men's swimming gold at the Games.
