Nineteen-year-old Walker Robinson from Hendersonville is on the verge of achieving his Olympic dream in ski cross, with just three races remaining to secure a spot in the upcoming Winter Olympics in Milan. This dynamic sport resembles a blend of motocross and BMX, featuring four skiers racing simultaneously down an obstacle course at high speeds, complete with jumps and challenging turns. Robinson recently participated in World Cup races in Switzerland and Italy, competing against fellow Americans for a coveted position on Team USA.
Robinson's journey began with early ski trips to Cataloochee Ski Area, a passion nurtured by his snowsport-loving parents. He excelled quickly, progressing from beginner slopes to competitive racing. After exploring alpine and freestyle skiing, he found ski cross offered the perfect combination of speed and agility he craved. His experience at the 2024 Youth Olympics, where he won a silver medal, further fueled his ambition and solidified his desire to compete on the world's biggest stage.
