Taylor's Clutch Hit Powers Mets to 9-0 Victory
5 Apr
Summary
- Taylor hit a three-run homer and added an RBI single.
- He entered the game with no hits in four previous contests.
- Taylor's performance could open doors if Soto misses time.
Taylor provided a powerful offensive spark for the Mets during their 9-0 triumph over the Giants on Saturday. Initially placed on the bench, he was strategically utilized as a pinch hitter in the fifth inning.
His timely intervention proved beneficial as Taylor launched a three-run home run on his fifth pitch. He further contributed to the team's scoring with an RBI single later in the game. This impactful display marked a significant turnaround for Taylor, who had struggled to get a hit in his previous nine at-bats across four games.
The timely performance from Taylor may create more playing time for him. This is particularly relevant given Juan Soto's departure from Friday's game due to a minor right calf strain, which could potentially lead to him missing more time.
